Serving Language Solutions since 2002
A medical and MedTech translation company built on human expertise, controlled AI and full traceability.
Who we are
AbroadLink is a translation company specialised in the medical, MedTech, in vitro diagnostics and pharmaceutical sectors. Since our foundation in 2002, we have worked with multinational manufacturers, fast-growing start-ups and established SMEs.
What sets us apart is not only what we translate, but how we control it. Every project runs through ISO-certified workflows, is handled by qualified medical linguists and is backed by traceable, audit-ready documentation. In a market increasingly shaped by automatic translation tools, we combine the speed of technology with the judgement that only specialised human experts can provide.
Our mission and values
Our mission rests on three cornerstones: transparency, technology and human talent.
We believe regulated companies should be able to adopt AI-assisted multilingual content without sacrificing quality, compliance or control. So we built our service around a simple principle:
Technology accelerates the work, but qualified human linguists remain accountable for it — and every step is documented so you can demonstrate compliance to a notified body or competent authority at any time.
Leadership
Josh Gambín is the founder of AbroadLink and leads the company's sales and strategy. With a degree in Biology and a degree in Translation and Interpreting, his background bridges the scientific and linguistic worlds that define our work.
He is a published author in MultiLingual magazine and has participated as conference speaker at leading industry events, including the GALA and tekom conferences, where he shares AbroadLink's perspective on quality, compliance and the responsible use of language technology in regulated sectors.
Our story
AbroadLink is founded, with the goal of becoming a benchmark in a mature but fast-growing sector. Through to 2012, the company works mainly as a subcontractor for major translation vendors, building the linguistic and process expertise that still underpins our work today.
We adopt XTRF, integrated with Trados, as our main Translation Management System, putting controlled, traceable workflows at the centre of every project.
We obtain our first quality certification, ISO 9001, formalising our quality management system.
We open our Madrid office and move the company headquarters to Paseo de la Castellana 40, an internationally recognised business address.
We add ISO 13485 (medical devices) and ISO 17100 (translation services), becoming one of the few translation companies certified to all three standards.
We establish a representative office in France, with a commercial office in Paris, strengthening our presence in one of Europe's key MedTech markets.
We launch the first version of aiHubLink, our platform for controlled generative translation.
We launch CertLink, our certificate portal for full translation traceability and audit readiness.
What makes us different: our five pillars
Our medical and regulatory translation service is structured around five fundamental pillars, designed to ensure compliance with the requirements overseen by notified bodies and competent authorities:
Objective evidence
Signed, stamped translation certificates that document who did the work and how. All certificates can be accessed and downloaded at any time through our portal, CertLink.
Risk-based workflows
Workflow intensity matched to device class, from translation + QA to full ISO 17100-compliant revision.
Medical specialisation
Linguists selected under criteria stricter than ISO 17100 requires.
Terminological rigour
Official EU MDR/IVDR terminology and validated glossaries applied systematically.
Customised generative translation
Controlled, traceable use of AI as a reviewed pre-translation step.
Certifications and compliance
AbroadLink is certified to ISO 9001, ISO 17100 and ISO 13485. As one of the few translation companies holding ISO 13485, we offer medical-device and IVD manufacturers an additional layer of assurance.
Our ISO 13485 implementation guarantees the high medical specialisation of our linguists, and all translations are checked for compliance with EU MDR/IVDR terminology. With every delivery, we can provide a signed and stamped certificate of accuracy specifying the linguists who carried out the work — and, where applicable, any AI model used during pre-translation.
Technology: aiHubLink and CertLink
We have built two proprietary platforms to keep AI controlled and translations traceable.
Our AI integration platform for secure, customised and human-validated generative translation. It produces an initial draft based on your existing terminology and legacy translations, which is then fully reviewed and validated by qualified medical linguists.
Our certificate portal. It lets you search and download every translation certificate we have signed, providing the documentary evidence you need during notified body or competent authority audits.
Stay ahead of multilingual compliance.
